Winter Family Photoshoot at Point Addis Beach, Torquay

Winter can tend to put people off having a family photoshoot in Geelong. Opting to wait for the warmer weather.

But, I love a cold weather family photoshoot, for many reasons. One, Sunset is early, like 5pm. So perfect for families who are worried about an 8pm photoshoot in Summer. Two, you get to rug up in cosy knits and beanies. You can even bring a blanket and cosy up for some gorgeous shots. Three, its quiet at most photoshoot locations around Torquay. Summer can be busy, so if privacy is your thing then this is perfect. I didn't have to photoshop a single person out of the background of the photo above. It was just lovely and quiet. Four, the sunsets can be stunning, I've been watching them lately at all my kids sport training and feeling quite envious that I'm not out with my camera, darn you footy training.

My evening are generally not as busy in winter, so that means if the weather is looking horrible we have options to postpone and look for a better weather option, because I get it, nobody wants to be out in 10 degrees, howling icy winds and rain, I don't either!

You won't be sitting around getting cold with my family photoshoots. I love candid, fun family shoots where you are interacting and playing with your kids and I am doing all the hard work getting into all the right spots for the right angles (even lying on the ground sometimes or wading knee deep into the water). I know that kids don't love to sit still or pose for very long, so we keep active and keep moving and most importantly having fun, because as a Mum of 3 I know if the kids aren't happy, then nobody is happy. Even these boys didn't want their shoes on for their photos and were not bothered (at least for the first 45mins) by the cold water, and if you see the smiles on their faces they were clearly having a blast.
